BlueBird Educational Foundation sponsors April’s Fort Pierce Main Street Coffee with the Mayor. Friday, April 15, 2016 at 8 am at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club! Since it’s founding in 2008, BlueBird Educational Foundation is dedicated to the mission of bringing the best in blues, jazz, classical and beyond to the Treasure Coast, while offering local students opportunities to perform and attend master classes with visiting artists, and receive scholarships and instruments to help them reach their artistic goals. BlueBird Educational Foundation presents a series of four concerts each season with musicians who have a unique interpretation of the jazz, blues and R&B culture, further enhancing our local students’ exposure to the best in American music. The overall intent is to deepen music appreciation and expand cultural horizons.

Attend the Coffee with the Mayor to learn more about how this nonprofit is focusing on helping youth in Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County. There will be giveaways in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month.

Join Mayor Linda Hudson and Main Street Fort Pierce for Coffee with the Mayor. The event is held the third Friday of the month at our new location the Fort Pierce Yacht Club in downtown Fort Pierce and is a positive networking experience for those that attend. Businesses, community organizations, and newcomers to the area are welcome to share information about upcoming events or activities occurring in the Treasure Coast region.

Main Street Fort Pierce and Orchid Island Juice Company provide breakfast treats, coffee, and fresh squeeze orange juice for attendees.

Artist Bio:
Colleen Nash Becht’s obsession is to take an ordinary moment and turn it into something eternal and sublime…with the risk and challenge of working the fluidity of Water Colors!
Colleen’s water colors are intricate and detailed, often hyper-realistic as they capture the beauty of sunlight and shadows. Her subject matter varies from anything and everything coastal, including tropical flora and fauna. Her latest obsession, wooden dinghies found floating in the waters from the Bahamas to California! Recently, Colleen has been busy completing commissioned work for private collectors.
Colleen’s work has gained national and international recognition and can be found in private collections worldwide. Her water colors adorn many local and not so local galleries (The Art House, Fort Pierce, Florida), local restaurants (12A Buoy, Cobb’s Landing, Fort Pierce Inlet Beach Bar & Grill & Sailfish Brewery) offices and retail establishments.
Colleen was born in the Chicago area, but has spent most of her life in in Fort Pierce. She graduated from John Carroll High School, and attended the Fine Art School of East Carolina University. Colleen is married to Local Attorney and Fort Pierce City Commissioner, Edward “Eddie” Becht and has three children, Brian, Allie and Drake.

The drawing will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 during the Christmas Holiday Shopping Party featuring unique items created by Colleen. There will be something for everyone: prints, framed originals, miniatures, coasters, cutting boards, t-shirts and much more.

Please join us for a unique shopping experience at the Platts/Backus House located at 122 A.E. Backus Avenue in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Along with the fireworks Main Street Fort Pierce will hold the annual 4th of July Celebration from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the City’s Marina Square Plaza (site of Friday Fest) on Monday, July 4, 2011. Entertainment will feature Category 5 and the Storm Horns, children’s activities, face painting, food and arts & crafts vendors.

Local Businesses step up to sponsor Fort Pierce fireworks for the community to enjoy. Chris Aten, marketing for the law firm of Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd, says the firm is proud to continue its commitment to the Treasure Coast community by sponsoring the Stars of St. Lucie Fireworks Show on Monday July 4th at the Fort Pierce City Marina Square . This is the second consecutive year that Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd & Lloyd has co-sponsored the event helping to keep this long lasting tradition alive in Fort Pierce .
