23rd Annual Sights and Sounds on Second Festival & Parade

Save the Date - Sunday, December 4, 2011 for Main Street Fort Pierce 23rd Annual Sights and Sounds on Second Christmas Festival & Parade sponsored by Center State Bank, Seacoast National Bank, and Waste Management, Inc. The festival begins at 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm with the parade immediately following at 4:30 pm.  This year’s parade theme is “Down Home Country Christmas”.  Common Ground Vineyard Church will hold a Sunday Service at 10:30 am and then the festivities will begin at 1:00 pm on Orange Avenue and Second Street in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce.  Activities during the Sights & Sounds Festival includes, entertainment by community children’s groups – Mrs. P's Dance& Acrobatic Studio, Star City Dance and True Crew Dance Company, the official grand entrance of Santa Claus at 1:30 pm, children’s crafts, games, bounce houses, petting zoo, arts & craft vendors, food, Ronald McDonald at 3:30 pm, vendors, and much more.  The Sights & Sounds Christmas Parade will begin at 4:30 pm. The Parade starts at Tickle Tummy Hill and travels south on Second Street to Orange Avenue, turns east on Orange Avenue to Indian River Drive, turns back north on Indian River Drive go through the roundabout, and follow Indian River Drive north to the River Walk Center.  The parade is sponsored by the Fort Pierce Sunrise Kiwanis; the parade is always a highlight of the Sights & Sounds event. The Kiwanis are looking for interested individuals, businesses and organizations to participate in the parade. All entries must be decorated with the parade theme - “Down Home Country Christmas”. Photo certificates will be given in several categories.  Anyone interested in participating is this year’s Sights & Sounds on Second parade can call (772) 466‑3880 or email for an application. There is no charge to have an entry in the parade.  Immediately following the Christmas Parade the Mayor and Santa will light the City of Fort Pierce’s Community Christmas Tree located at the Avenue A and Indian River Drive Roundabout. This is always a wonderful hometown celebration to kick off the holiday season. The City of Fort Pierce will also unveil “The Holiday Light Spectacular”. The light and sound show will have over 100,000 lights synchronized to holiday music and will begin at Marina Square after the tree lighting ceremony. The holiday lights and music will run from 6:00 to 10:00 PM every night until January 2, 2012. 2nd Annual “Reflections of the Future” Art Show sponsored by Ocean Chiropractic & Health

Award winning artists, Anita Prentice and Ginny Piech Street, along with renowned fashion designer Sabre Mochachino, and will come together for a 3-day art show where the world of art and fashion meet seamlessly for your enjoyment! Renowned artist, Anita Prentice will bring her mosaic design to reflect the future through a series of mirrors that convey a reflective look on the world of art. Renowned artist,Ginny Piech Street will bring her painting paper and cutting skills to compose her colorful and often humorous collage totems. Both artists will collaborate with chic fashion designer, Sabre Mochachino of LA/NY. Sabre will be showing a line of handbags that will have original illustrated artwork prints. These prints he has accumulated over the years and this will be the first time he has actually release these illustrations as a collective body of work for public viewing. This show will truly identify the bags as art pieces, bringing art and fashion together. The exhibit will be held at the Platts/Backus House 122 A.E. Backus Avenue Fort Pierce,FL.The show will be revealed with a free public Artist Reception & Fashion Presentation on Thursday, November 17, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. sponsored by Ocean Chiropractic & Health. "Anderson Council" is a four piece band that has entertained audiences of all ages around the Treasure Coast.  The Band is made up of Bill Few, guitar, Diane Few, vocals, Kenny Pangburn bass guitar, and Mike Clemente, drums and percussion. They play a variety of music from Classic Rock to New Rock featuring artists such as Pink Floyd, Alanis Morrsiette, Pat Benatar, Pink, Melissa Ethridge and many more. "Anderson Council” has performed at various venues throughout theTreasureCoast such as, Friday Fest, Frog Leg Festival, Long Branch Saloon, Eagles Club, Backus Festival, Sandy Shoes Festival and many more. Jeff Brown, from Clear Channel Radio, will also be at Friday Fest entertaining the crowd with Top 40 music.
