This scene was painted after a visit to Savannas Campground and Recreation Area in St. Lucie County. It shows just one of many outdoor recreation areas in the county providing camping, boating, fishing and picnic facilities.

About the Artist
Jacquelyn Modesitt Schindehette, a Florida native, began her art career along side the Premiere Florida Landscape Artist, A.E. “Bean” Backus, as he took on the roll of teacher, mentor and personal friend. Her formal training was at the prestigious Art Students League in New York City.
Jackie is a gifted master of traditional oil painting, specializing in landscapes. Her paintings are representational in style with bold brush work and authentic color.
“Florida’s diverse landscape is disappearing. I am working to record a visual history of the saw grass marshes, palm hammocks, cypress heads, pine forests, lagoons, and natural springs in addition to the magnificent beaches with swaying palms that make up the heart of Florida.”
